Here is today's The Math Contest question of the day.

Went really slow to make sure I did not get this one wrong.  My result showed this.

At least I received 7 points and finished 2nd overall for the month.  What a horrible last week.  Hats off to Mr Gillespie as he has won a few months now and he was even first today.  He had no pressure on himself.  Lol.

The answer to yesterday's little IQ test is as follows:

1 + 4 => 1*4 + 1 = 5

2 + 5 => 2*5 + 2 = 12

3 + 6 => 3*6 + 3 = 21

so in general

a + c => ac + a therefore

8 + 11 => 8*11 + 8 = 96

Today's song comes from a British band from 97 off their second album Dig Your Own Hole.  It was the second single off this lp.  Much of the song is sampled.  The opening bass riff resembles Pink Floyd and the words are sampled from Schoolly D.  The band is Chemical Brothers and the song is Block Rockin' Beats.  I wish someone would put a beat on put-in.

I was extremely slow as I wanted to stay out of the penalty box with only 2 days left.  I knew I could not be first on this question so I was very cautious.  Maybe too cautious.  

So Gillespie has 9 points on me with one day remaining.  Unless he takes tomorrow off and I am in the top 5, he wins.  As far as second goes, Roupam Mal is 7 behind me so unless I bang my head I should be safe but we will see.

Here is this week's The Math Contest problem of the week.

I got this one and I thought I had it quick but not quick enough.

Needed to be top 5 to get 9 points and tie for first for the month's winner for problems of the week.  So last two months I have been second on problem of the week.  However the big prize is problem of the day winner for the month.  Two more days and I am in second due to a bad day and the Lions game.

Today's song comes from a teen punk band from Akron Ohio.  They won the Cleveland music award for best punk band of 22.  The song is about reconciling your identity when a relationship ends.  It is a single that just recently came out this year.  The band is Detention and the song is Faded Not Jaded.put-in needs a detention in the gulag.
