 Here is today's The Math Contest question of the day.

Easy question.  Made an arithmetic error.  Penalty box.  When I came out I was bubbleboy.  Damn I could use that extra point.  I won three months in a row but this month not a chance.  I will have to get better next week to be top 5 for the month.

Today's song is from Y2K from this La La Cali band's third album, Stomping Ground.  This song is a cover of a song from 83.  The original was recorded in both it's native German and an indirect translation in English in 84.  I remember it well as I was a senior in high school.  The German I believe did much better here.  Today's cover has the verse sung in English whilst the bridge is in German.  It is an anti-war song.  The original was by Nena.  Big hint. The song was used in the movie Sonic 3.  In 2022 the song was rereleased by the cover band with Travis Barker (Blink-182) on drums.  Really good version. The cover band is Goldfinger and the song is 99 Red Balloons.  A goldfinger should push put-in into the meatgrinder.  I give you below Goldfinger Y2K version, then Travis Barker, then the original in English and then the more haunting German version.  Enjoy.

Today's song is from a Reno Nevada punk band.  It was released in 85 and is a cover of  an 83 song from a German band.  The cover version was produced by Minor Threat's singer Ian MacKaye and mixed by Bad Religion's guitarist Brett Gurewitz.   The song is 99 Red Balloons and the band is 7 Seconds covering Nena's 99 Luftballons.  I wish put-in was lifted away by the Chinese spy balloon.  I have given you two live performances of 7 Seconds.  One from 94 and then one from 22.  Kevin Seconds still sounds great.
