Song of the Day for Monday

Everyone my age remembers Phoebe Cates topless in the pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  Google it. Also in that movie was another young to be star in Sean Penn.  Remember him and Mr Hand?    Anyways the song they used for part of the pool scene was The Cars song Moving in stereo from their debut self titled album.  Great band.  Everyone again my age remembers their lead singer Ric Okasek, RIP, who for his third wife married the young supermodel Paulina Porizkova.  However on this song Ben Orr, RIP actually does the vocals.  Their first self titled album is great and the second Candy-O was not too bad.  After that crickets except a weak attempt with Shake It Up.  Anyways I wanted Moving in Stereo live and the best version I could find from 79 also includes Candy-O at no extra charge to you.  If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else. Song of the Day for Sunday.

Take American Steve Mack and plop him in with former Irish punk band mates from The Undertones and you get a post punk dance band That Petrol Emotion in the late 80s.  I loved dancing to Big Decision in grad school on the left coast.   If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else. Song of the Day for Saturday

Going back to some 70s.  This song came out on the album in 71 and as a single in 72.  It actually flopped at that time.  David Bowie and the soon to be Spiders From Mars had changed their musical style many times and this was one of things he was talking about in Changes.  He was also talking about the teen age years.  I am living through that with my kids lol.   If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else. Song of the Day for Friday

Welcome to the weekend.  I am going to show a Fred Armisen, David Grohl, Ashton Kutcher and Bill Hader doing an SNL punk rock skit.  To get some fun out of it there are many punk rock bands highlighted in this video but the biggest part is Mike Muir's band Suicidal Tendencies song Institutionalized.  I loved this song when it came out in 83.  It was on their self titled LP but probably got a huge boost being on the best soundtrack LP on Repo Man.  I blogged about this with a Black Flag post.  Anyways I have Institutionalized first and then the SNL skit second below.  Enjoy.  If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else. Song of the Day for Wednesday

I am going with another Canadian band today.  Late 70s early 80s and in the Rock and Roll H.O.F.  Geddy Lee, Neil Peart R.I.P. and Alex Lifeson of the band Rush put together a perennial fm rock favourite with Tom Sawyer.  I am sure my friend Andromeda would approve of todays song of the day.   I am also including a video of an intro to Tom Sawyer live in concert in Holland by my favourite cartoon characters.   I am sure Andromeda has not seen this video but maybe I am wrong but I will find out.  UPDATE - My daughter told me that Family Guy also did a Tom Sawyer episode so I have included the video below.  If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else. Additions To My Library

Thought I would post something different.  Just picked up the following books gently used.  Yes James Rollins is kind of pulp but I like his Sigma Series and since I am reading about Barry Bonds and Balco I might as well read about another Roid monster in Jose Canseco.  Boy I hated him.  He deserved to have Madonna.  I also loved the home run back in 93 off his head.  I think Johnny D will remember when we were at a game against the Tigers and it was early season maybe April.  There were not many fans so we moved into the good seats between home and third and I was razing Roid Boy with everything I had and he heard me.  He finally hit one out and he starred at me.  Oh well I still hate him.  Now the Stevie Y book goes without saying because he was a great Red Wing and they are my team.  I live in Windsor so what do you know.  If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first as I will get a small commission on anything you buy even if it is something else.
